SMA Warriors: Together We Are Making A Difference

Don't you love when $10,000 falls out of the sky! Yes, we just received news that GSF is receiving a generous $10,000 donation. It didn't really fall out of the sky — a wonderful man has been planning it, a wonderful family was involved, and a wonderful company was a big part of it, too — we just didn't know!!!

We have so many positive things happening right now that our heads are spinning. The exciting grant agreements that we have been working on for months are just about finalized and we can not wait! And thanks to your generosity and hard work, GSF is going to be able to commit a bit more than just a certain special prize that was won a few months back. And there is nothing more important to us than ending SMA forever!!! But it takes moolla and so to receive a surprise $10K means more can be directed to promising research!!!

So who is behind this fantastic surprise? You remember the amazing Schmid family who relentlessly fight SMA in memory of their sweet baby Zane. And I'm sure you remember the philanthropic Milverstead Publishing — the publishing company giving a percentage of such books as Not A Fire Exit and The Jeffrey Journey to GSF. Well, talk about a lot going on, Milverstead is busting at the seams with news and growth and has actively rallied for SMA to its investors and corporate partners. StoveTopCover.com and its founder Steve Churchill is one such partner who has gotten behind the cause in a big way and is generously donating $10,000 to GSF in honor of Zane Schmid. And we are simply blown away!!!

Just this week GSF supporters (Team Fight For Owen, Team Lucy's Hope For A Cure, and Team Gwendolyn) have raised $10,000 and with this new donation that makes $20,000 in a week! Incredible!!! Simply incredible!!!

Bill and I do not like to ask for help, but an end to SMA is not going to happen by simply wishing it to. It takes determination, collaboration, forethought, funding, investment, and lots of hard work — a village. And here is the really great thing…we are not championing all of this alone — far from it. That village is not only stepping up to the plate, we are all making a material difference on the outcome of this disease. Together we WILL end SMA — one person and one dollar at time!!!

Thank you so much everyone for fighting so hard to end SMA. Spinal Muscular Atrophy doesn't stand a chance!!!
