I just want to thank everyone for being so supportive this last week. SMA is tough and while Bill and I always try to focus on what we can control and what we can do to make a difference, sometimes the reality of what we are facing becomes too much. I know it isn't easy to read. I know it isn't easy to allow yourself to go there, so we thank you for being in this with us. Thank you for your kind emails and comments and thoughtful gifts and cards. And thank you for not only caring about our little girl, but our well being as well. Your kindness truly lifted our spirits and we feel so appreciative of the many good people we have in our life.And with Gwendolyn finally getting her energy back, we are definitely all feeling much better. Seeing the sparkle in her eyes makes my heart smile once more.
So before we were all hit by the bubonic plague, we actually had a great few days in Northern California. We had a really good visit with Gwendolyn's super star pulmonologist at Stanford. We love seeing the team up there. Gwendolyn got a “She looks wonderful!” report. And we didn't have to increase any of her machine settings, so that was a big positive. We did have quite a lot of blood work to do, but the giant sparkling rings Dr. Yuan gave her helped make the blood draws easier. Miss G-thang is now 34 pounds and 44 inches long — yes, I birthed a giraffe.
Later we headed to San Francisco and luckily before getting sick, we got to take Gwendolyn to the aquarium. She loved it and was really bossy about going under the shark tunnel area — “Go fast and go again.” 
We also got to have a really wonderful anniversary dinner. (The Anniversary Gods were good to us to hold off on the stomach flu until after all of this yumminess!)Gwendolyn was as good as gold and loved getting to be the only little girl in the chic restaurant — and the restaurant was so nice and super accommodating. Love San Francisco.
The highlight of the trip up north was definitely getting to hang out with the Lunt family. We just adore the Lunts. They are so much fun, so positive, and so down to earth. And Chad and Cherisse are incredible parents to their three children — who are all adorably precocious. And Lucy is, well, beyond hilarious! At two and a half she is one independent little missy determined to keep up with her big brother and sister and SMA isn't slowing her down. Lucy can speak and the things she says are so darn funny. (She told Bill out of the blue, “Nice watch,” and then batted her eyes when he let her wear it.) The day went by in a snap and I could have hung out with the Lunts for hours more. Thanks for having us over guys. Can't wait to see you again soon!
