Spinal Muscular Atrophy Power and Backup Power

In our experience, power and backup power for Gwendolyn's various life-critical machines can be — well — a pain in the neck and, when we haven't been prepared, extremely stressful and dangerous. We feel like we've encountered (or stumbled through) just about every power issue and emergency you can imagine over the past several years and we've cobbled together different “solutions” over time to deal with each situation. In hindsight, we wish we would have just acquired all of these before we needed them — not during or after an emergency. Following is a document that summarizes what we use/have for Gwendolyn with respect to power and backup power:

As always, this is just a summary from our experience and philosophy of care with Gwendolyn and is not intended to be an all inclusive guide for all families. We highly recommend that all SMA families joinSMAspace.com — an incredible online support community exclusively for those impacted by SMA. In addition, InsideSMA.com has created a very helpful article on mobile power solutions.
