VIDEO: Gwendolyn's Computer Time

Last week Gwendolyn had a technology assessment with the Central Coast Assistive Technology Center (CCATC). Given Gwendolyn's thirst for new experiences, we are hopeful that technology will unlock a wealth of independent learning, playing, and communicating opportunities for her — she's definitely craving them…

We tested a bunch of switches and games with CCATC and they left us with a Micro Light Switch and a Mouse Interface to start getting Gwendolyn used to the cause effect world of click —> play. It took her about two minutes (literally) to understand that her click was controlling when the big, green belching frog snatched up fly after fly after fly; and she ABSOLUTELY loved it — lit up like I've never seen her light up before.

We've only just scratched the surface with what technology has to offer and we know that these things are going to take time and require a lot of trial, error, and patience. But, seeing Gwendolyn light up with joy after a few minutes definitely gives me hope that TeChNoLoGy will be playing an important role in providing Gwendolyn with many fun, challenging, and broadening experiences in the future.

We've found that KneeBouncers.com has some good cause and effect, single click games for infants. Do you have any other infant appropriate game website suggestions?
