Our little girl…oh our sweet little girl…expressed what she wants to be when she grows up!
It was “career day” at preschool — a loose term (it's only preschool after all). But none-the-less there was talk of what the children want to be when they grow up. A simple enough question, but one that, well, makes me all throat lumpy for so many reasons — and mainly because Gwendolyn was so very clear in her choices. All the children were given about 25 different stickers of “careers” to then decorate their little paper person with. Gwendolyn eyed each one seriously. She passed by the paleontologist. She skipped the chef. No interest in the scuba diver. But…when she saw the nurse she immediately said, “Guh! Guh!” We feel so proud. But she wasn't finished. She went through several other stickers and when she came to “researcher” again she enthusiastically said, “Guh! Guh!” She was busily decorating her paper people with her chosen professions and began watching what her friends were choosing and pretty soon she also wanted to be a ballerina!
I know… I'm crying. All of it! She's our nurse-researcher-ballerina! And we want all of that and more for her!
