Cardoze/Vallarino Family Raises $5,000

The Cardoze/Vallarino family and friends are continually thinking of ways to raise much needed funds to fight SMA and their efforts have raised an incredible $5,000!

When sweet Amanda Cardoze, who has SMA Type 1, celebrated her special first birthday this summer, her parents, Marcela Vallarino and Juan Cardoze, planned a big birthday party (of course with cupcakes by Vanille) and asked friends and family to honor this significant SMA milestone by donating to help end it. And donate they did. Over $3,000 was raised in honor of darling Amanda. In addition, the Cardoze family worked with the children’s charity, Fundaninos, who also generously contributed in Amanda’s name.

But they didn’t stop there. Marcela recently celebrated her 30th birthday and her family turned the occasion into a fundraiser. Decorating their home like New York City, friends and family gathered for dinner and dancing and had a blast as they raised funding to help end SMA. Nearly $2,000 was raised and tons of fun was had by all!

During the same week Marcela’s good friend, Ariana Arias, owner of the boutique Barakat hosted a trunk show of Laura Buccellati’s new couture handbag collection. This Italian designer attended the special event in Panama, along with many others, and proceeds benefitted theGSF.

Everyone has a birthday and anyone can turn that special day into a day of creating change. Thank you Cardoze and Vallarino family and friends for rallying around Amanda. We are continually blown away by all you are doing to change SMA in her honor.
