Little Miss G is now BIG Miss G. No huge surprise, but seriously… my baby is a giant. We haven't done a weight/height update in quite some time and whoa has she grown. Can you believe our little peanut is now over 42 inches tall? That is 3 1/2 feet. Giant! She is now more than half my height. And boy does she love to gloat about it She's so proud of her Big Girl status — so FYI if you want to win her over just remark about how tall she is and you are golden! She's looking pretty surly in this picture because she just had her first round of Synagis (aka RSV) shots yesterday. We are pretty excited about this because it was quite the fight to get approval this year. (Gwendolyn clearly does not share our enthusiasm.)
All in all, Gwendolyn is doing really well. She's “healthy.” She's happy. And we are loving 4. She's all passion. When she likes something — she LOVES it and then everything revolves around said thing. The past two nights she's decided not to sleep at night (party girl), which makes for slightly more cranky passion (note photo). At the moment, she's obsessed with the music from “Rio” (especially the fast music — maybe this is the reason she's not sleeping at night). She demands that we dance around and shake our tushies (I'm no professional but I think Gwendolyn and I should be cast in the next Black Eyed Peas video — our routine is getting really advanced Happy Thanksgiving over and over via her voice switch, and celebrating an early Thanksgiving with her classmates.
Bill and I had a pre-Thanksgiving celebration with our friends as well. A date night — and it was awesome. Our dear friends, Mike and Sarah Paskin, have an annual Pre-Thanksgiving party — a “Friendsgiving.” It is a wonderful idea — close friends gather to celebrate friendship and share our favorite Thanksgiving dishes. They have been doing this since they were first married and it has now grown to quite a large crowd: 138 friends, 48 pounds of turkey, 42 pounds of ham, 67 side dishes and desserts. Whew! And the best part is them. They are such wonderful friends, such fabulous hosts, and they make everyone feel so welcome and as if they can stay for hours. In fact, Bill and I stayed out the latest we have in five years. And it was great — tired eyes the next day and all.
We are all feeling really blessed right now — and that is a great feeling as we head into the big day of gratitude. Life is good, Miss G is thriving, we are surrounded by people who love and support us, and we are so, so thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!
