Yesterday we drove down to L.A. to attend the special first birthday party for sweet baby Isaac. I have been friends with Isaac's Mommy, Theresa, since elementary school. We were in Brownies and Girl Scouts together; we had countless sleepovers together; we endured the awkward Junior High years together; and we have grown and traveled and changed and been there for each other through it all. She is an amazing best friend and I simply adore her. And so yesterday was such a special treat to celebrate Isaac's milestone, get to see Theresa's wonderful and supportive family, as well as reconnect with special old friends. And Gwendolyn had a blast at the puppy-themed party.
Theresa is so creative and thought of such fun details for the children. She created an adopt a puppy station where every child got to select their own pound puppy, fill out a birth certificate and then put him in a carrying case for home. Gwendolyn took this process very seriously, pondering each and every puppy closely before finally choosing the spotted dog, which she named “Mabel” (and yes, she was very specific about that being the name). We also had a chance to participate in the pinata fun, which Gwendolyn was eager to try after witnessing some very strong little ones destroy the first pinata. And Gwendolyn even got to feel the icy cold of an Otter Pop. All in all, Isaac's birthday was a big hit. Gwendolyn snuggled Mabel the entire drive home and fell asleep clutching Mabel's paw.
Happy Birthday sweet Isaac. We love you!
