7th Anniversary…And I’m So Glad

Tomorrow is our 7th wedding anniversary…and I am so glad for you. And as we celebrate, these are the thoughts on my mind…

I'm glad our eyes met and you had the courage to say hello 11 St. Patrick's Days ago

I'm glad you didn't give up on me for canceling our first date with no good excuse and little time

I'm glad that although neither of us were “looking,” we both knew after one date that we'd found something special

I'm glad that you are romantic and thoughtful and carefully planned a personal proposal — even though I didn't hear all you said after seeing you down on one knee

I'm glad you were just as interested in planning our wedding as I was, wanted to be involved with organizing it all — it made it our day, not just mine

I'm glad we spent some alone time together after the wedding… When I remember our day, I think of those moments, giddy with excitement, kissing and holding you, and it always reminds me of how very much I love you

I'm glad we spent the next few years after marriage navigating what we truly wanted in our life — our new life as a pair

I'm glad we had the courage to quit our secure jobs, sell everything, and travel the world for a year — just the two of us and our enormous backpacks

I'm glad we have picnicked under the Eiffle Tower, biked through Norway's fjords, pulled leeches off each other's backs in Borneo and we simply enjoy each other's company — no matter where we are or what we are doing

I'm glad you have a sense of adventure and a joy for life, have challenged me to do things I never expected I'd try and have done things for me you never thought you'd enjoy — but I'm also glad you don't have to go, go, go all the time

I'm glad we decided to create a life in Santa Barbara and start a family here — this town is good to us

I'm glad you are so protective and thoughtful and proud of your little family

I'm glad you are instinctively an incredible father

I'm glad you never feel self conscious to be silly with your little girl

I'm glad Gwendolyn got all of our best attributes — especially yours

I'm glad you told me when I was falling apart after Gwendolyn's SMA diagnosis that we would be okay… No false promises, but such certainty that we would survive this — even after Gwendolyn does not

I'm glad you are honest and true, even when the truth is painful

I'm glad you are humble and insightful and kind, while still beingconfident and secure

I'm glad you always seem to see the big picture and do the right thing, simply because its the right thing to do

I'm glad you still make me laugh, belly aching laugh — and stillchallenge my perspective, always making me think — and I'm glad you like that I do that for you, too

I'm glad you still think my gaffs are “cute” after so many years — I promise to work on my bad habits

I'm glad you still tell me I am pretty — and mean it — even when I'm just in yoga pants and a tank top

I'm glad we are a team, you and me, and a good one

I'm glad I married you 7 years ago tomorrow…no 7 year itch in sight

Happy Anniversary my Love — I'm so very glad you love me
