2nd Annual “Golf For A Cure” A Huge Success!

Last Friday, we hosted GSF's 2nd Annual “Golf For A Cure” tournament at Sterling Hills Golf Club in Camarillo, California and it was a whopping good time and a huge success — raising over $15,000 for our “$200K For SMA“fundraising program in support of promising SMA gene therapy research! The weather was gorgeous. The event SOLD OUT. We had incredible support from corporate sponsors. And everyone had fun hitting the links and golfing to end SMA! After a day of golf, many spouses and non-golfers joined us for a cocktail party, dinner, and prize reception. It was simply a wonderful day and event.

We continue to be humbled by the support shown our efforts to help elevate awareness of SMA and accelerate promising research to end it. These events just plain mean the world to us and seeing all of the smiling, supportive faces (who have traveled from from near and far) out to fight alongside us is an uplifting and invigorating feeling. It truly pushes us to do more and fight harder to continue furthering our cause to see an end to SMA — one person and one dollar at a time!

There was an extra special bonus this year and it meant so much to us. We had five SMA families at the event — the Calafiore family with 2 1/2 year old Hayden, the Felix family with 3 year old Alexa, Don Marshall on behalf of the Marshall family with 2 1/2 year old Micah (Micah was battling a collapsed lung in the hospital — but is back home and doing better now), the Mazzella family with 13 year old Courtney, and our family with 3 year old Gwendolyn. Having these families be part of this event was wonderful and seeing the children together was priceless. It is something that we will never, ever forget.

We'd like to thank our unbelievably supportive and generous corporate sponsors for making this event such a huge success. Your support has an enormous impact on the future of SMA and we are so very appreciative!!!

Thank you again to everyone for participating and making this year's “Golf For A Cure” tournament such a fun, positive success. We are looking forward to next year! See you in 2011 smile
