Victoria's sister, Elizabeth, her husband, Chad, and our adorable
nephews, William (5 years old) and Henry (18 months old) arrived for a
visit last night from Philadelphia. We absolutely love spending time
with all of them and we are so happy that they are here with us
through the New Year.
Today we took a walk down to State Street in the afternoon and passed
our local fire station, Santa Barbara City Fire station #3. The
firemen were out cleaning the station and couldn't have been nicer to
proactively speak with us and invite us to take a tour of the engines
— William and Henry even got to sit in the front of one of them and
the firemen took Polaroid pictures and gave all of the children fire
hats and stickers. It was a HUGE hit!!!
It was also a very long overdue opportunity for Victoria and I to
personally thank the wonderful firemen and women at Santa Barbara City
Fire station #3. They were the first responders to our house when
Gwendolyn's lung collapsed back in May 2008. Their seemingly immediate
support during that very chaotic and difficult time for us was
extremely important to us and we feel comforted by the fact that we
live so close to the amazing men and women of station #3. From the
bottom of our hearts — a long overdue thank you!!!
