New York Times: Cap Lifts, and So Do Spirits

Anyone who knows us knows that raising broad awareness of SMA is something that we are pretty passionate about…just a wee bit. And. So. Well. We're pretty excited around here today. The New York Times ran a vignette on our family today about SMA and our perspective on the two pieces of the new health care law that are going into effect this week: abolishment of lifetime policy caps and health insurance options for those with pre-existing conditions (we've written about our feelings on these before here). We are no doubt big cheerleaders of those specific components of the legislation as they could both benefit us greatly in the future. And we're extremely excited about the caliber of the New York Times piece and the awareness that brings to this brutal disease.

We'd like to thank our friends the Byrd family from Arizona for putting the New York Times in touch with us for this story. You guys rock! Go SMA awareness!!!
