Be the change you want to see in the world!
That is the quote that both Lauren Lundy O'Connor and Magda Cardoso have selected as their mantra for this Sunday's New York City Marathon. Lauren and Magda are SMA Warriors, the SMA Fighting Divas, examples of living with action and their fierce determination to help end SMA and dedication to the sport of running is nothing but awe inspiring.
Separately they are incredible people. And united… well, they are a force to be reckoned with. If I were SMA I would not want to meet these ladies in a dark alley — don't let their beauty fool you — these women mean business! Here is what Lauren wrote on her Facebook page:
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” The one change i want with my whole heart would be for Owen to be here with us, I can't change that…but I will run every mile with blood, sweat and tears to contribute to the change of SMA…a world without it.
We will be watching the national NBC coverage of the ING NYC Marathon, one of the largest in the world, and will be looking for the two women who inspire us to do more and fight harder. Thank you Lauren and Magda for running once again for the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation, in honor of Owen Shuler and Owen Simmons, and with such determination to wipe out this cruel disease.
Please consider sponsoring one of their incredible miles. They are almost to their $5,000 goal!
Together we can end SMA – one person, one dollar, and one mile at a time!!!
