Gwendolyn has now mastered several new tricks that we, of course, continue to ask her to perform. And, like the good girl she is, she appeases us until, well, she's had quite enough…
No Nod: Gwendolyn has been shaking her head “No” for months, but it is only recently that she does so with meaning. I have rare occasion to use the word “No” until she started this movement and we began trying to teach her the meaning.
Yes Nod: We have been working on the “Yes” nod since, well, we first saw the “No” nod. What is a no without a yes? But, our efforts were to no avail. She looked at us strangely and laughed at our silly gesture. She continued to use a grunt and smile for “Yes”, quite pleased with her own mode of communication. That is until last week. At first I wasn't sure if she had meaning behind it, but tonight, with my highly scientific method, the truth has come to light.
Mommy: “Gwendolyn, do you love Mommy?”
Gwendolyn: Profusely nods “Yes.”
Mommy: “Do you love Elmo?”
Gwendolyn: Nods “Yes, yes.”
Mommy: “Gwendolyn, do you love naps?”
Gwendolyn: “No, no, no, no, no….”
The verdict is in, our child is a genius!
