Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

Alright, it's not really snowing here in Santa Barbara, but it has been really, really cold — for here — and it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

We had a great day yesterday. There is a restaurant on State Street that decorates seemingly every inch of its interior, including the ceiling, with lights and decorations. Gwendolyn has really taken a liking to sparkly Christmas lights, so on our walk yesterday morning we took her through the restaurant in her stroller and she was absolutely mesmerized by the display — it was really cute.

We had a lot of fun decorating our Christmas tree. Gwendolyn was pretty impressed with the whole process, but she really lit up when Mommy picked her up to touch the tree for the first time — it was almost as if she couldn't believe there was actually a pine tree INSIDE the house. She loved holding the strands of bright colorful lights and inspecting the shiny, jingly decorations as we brought them out of the box and put them on to the tree. There is something special about going through a box of Christmas ornaments together, a walk down memory lane, and we had many precious decorations from last year, Gwendolyn's first Christmas, to rediscover. There were a few decorations that Gwendolyn especially liked — the big burgundy and gold shiny rhinestone star and the giraffe (of course) to name a few — and those took a bit longer to make it on the tree as she just wanted to hold them and play with them. Gwendolyn also managed to take a nap in the middle of it all — not a bad idea I might add!!! — but she woke up bright and breezy just in time to help me put on the topper.
