The Indoor Triathlon hosted by Killer B Fitness was a huge success. Nearly 50 participants sweated it out to support the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation and help end Spinal Muscular Atrophy — and they had fun doing it. Bob and Lisa Wilcher, owners of Killer B Fitness, planned the entire event and they did a marvelous job. They got people pumped up and motivated, let them know why being involved in the fight against SMA is important, and pushed people to use their muscles for those who cant. There was such an incredible positive energy throughout the day and everyone worked extra hard some for fun and some for training. There were several seasoned triathletes, but for most an indoor triathlon was an entirely new and learning experience. There were also many who came out just to support and learn more about SMA.
Bob and Lisa also brought in support from several local businesses. Backyard Bowls hosted a booth of their delicious healthy Acai bowls and after a good run, swim, bike everyone was so grateful for the nourishment. And Handlebar Coffee Roasters provided the coffee for the day and they donated a portion of each sale of their organic beans to the GSF. We were also on hand with information and were so appreciative of all the many questions and the sincere interest in learning more about Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It always motivates us when new people have been reached and real awareness has taken place.
Thank you Bob and Lisa and Killer B Fitness for creating this wonderful event for the GSF. Thank you Santa Barbarans for once again coming out in force and making a difference in the future of SMA. We are so, so blown away that over $1,300 was raised!!! So AWESOME!!!
