It was an eventful day in the Strong household yesterday.
Gwendolyn had her third set of immunizations. She's now completely up to date with her shots and is on shot hiatus for several months now. I'm sure she's very happy about that She seems to be doing relatively well thus far after her shots…
Then, around 7:30pm last night our power went out. Apparently the main power lines that provide power to our area were damaged as a result of the fire in Goleta, CA and almost everyone in our area lost power — we hear that a large part of our area is still without power today with no estimate on when it will be turned back on. Since Gwendolyn relies on machines to breathe, etc. this was a bit of a stressful time for us. Luckily, either by sheer luck or due to the fact that we are on a life-vital priority list with our electric company, our power came back on again about an hour later and has been on ever since. This was definitely a gut check for us to make sure we are well prepared for events like this in the future. Thanks to the BatteryGeek.net battery that automatically kicks in when the power goes out and can power Gwendolyn's bi-pap for 8-10 hours (thank you again Josh), another backup battery that we have as a spare, our generator (thank you Kristen, Richard, Jennifer, and Darrell), and a power inverter that we could use in our cars if needed, we feel as prepared as we could be should anything happen again.
