Iced Vietnamese coffee and a stop at the zoo

This weekend we were determined to get out and enjoy this beautiful 75 degree “winter” weather. Unfortunately, on Saturday Gwendolyn really wasn't feeling well so we decided to have a family movie/singing/snuggle day — which wasn't a bad second option at all.

On Sunday, Gwendolyn woke up in much better spirits. We packed up the G-Van and headed to Summerland for a stop at a little coffee shop/cafe with a quaint outdoor garden that serves one of our favorite hard-to-find coffee drinks, at least outside of its origin — iced Vietnamese coffee (side note: if you've never tried one, just make sure you do someday). Gwendolyn took a well deserved nap while we enjoyed reminiscing about this-and-that in the relaxing garden. It was great!

It was such a nice day that we decided to make a stop at the Santa Barbara Zoo on our way home. We were all set for Gwendolyn to love the elephants, be over-the-moon about the giraffe, and go crazy for the penguins. Unfortunately, she was pretty underwhelmed by the zoo today and seemingly overwhelmed by all the people and noises and warm weather. The last time we went to the zoo, she loved it, but she clearly was still not feeling totally herself. Nevertheless, we made the most of it and it was just simply nice to be out as a family on such a beautiful weekend.

More than anything, we're just relieved that Gwendolyn seems to be feeling better today…hopefully that trend will continue…
