Save for a little inconvenience and added stress, a pile of mail and boxes, and some indoor/outdoor ash cleanup, we are all safe, sound, and settled back in at home in Santa Barbara. And, there are several silver linings to this adventure: we got to spend some quality time with Gramma, we were able to each do some long overdue personal shopping, we visited our great friends Nick and Aubrey in Venice Beach, we had a wonderful Mother's Day with family on Sunday, and we were able to visit Gwendolyn's Great Auntie Weez (Bill's Aunt) on our way home today.
We are so relieved to hear that none of our friends were seriously impacted by the fire. Considering the violent nature of the fire that we left behind last Wednesday, it's truly amazing that more destruction did not occur — a testament to the amazing fire and police crews that risked their lives (and are continuing to risk their lives) to protect our community.
A special thanks to Gramma for taking us in for five days on a moments notice. We know you loved every second of it and that we are always welcome, but please know how much we appreciate everything.
