We are so excited to tell you about our plans for Gwendolyn’s legacy project — the first fully inclusive playground in Santa Barbara County! Not only will this space be accessible for all to play, our vision is a whimsical playground unlike anything in this community to spark curiosity and delight for every age.
We have been working with the City of Santa Barbara’s Parks and Recreation Department for two years now and, while there is still quite a way to go before construction can begin, and a lot of money to be raised, we are absolutely thrilled to share that space at the Dwight Murphy Field (across from the zoo) has been secured and we now have a master plan.
We have big plans for this space to encompass all that our incredible little girl embodied — kindness, acceptance, determination, sense of fun, imagination, and the possibility for everyone – regardless of ability – to be out there in the midst of everything. We are honored and excited to finally bring an inclusive playground to our beautiful progressive city so all children can play side by side.
