Today, September 3, 2009, we received an email from our legal counsel with a simple attachment: the IRS has approved the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status as a public charity. A wave of emotions ran over me when I opened the email and read the IRS letter, but mostly I am just plain proud of us…and excited to get going continuing to help raise awareness of SMA, raise funding to end this brutal disease, and launch programs to support those impacted by life-altering diseases.
This is the culmination of a year plus of planning and preparation and logistics and documentation and hard work. None, and I mean NONE of this would have been possible without the guidance, expertise, and diligence of our dream team at Morrison & Foerster, LLP. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and every one of you!
Now…off to get going on our plans!!!
