Our friends Hillary and Keith Schmid, parents to twins Zane and Avery, are amazing. Their determination and take-the-bull-by-the-horns spirit continually motivates us. There are just certain people in the world that see an issue and, instead of complaining about it, are stirred to action. And that is the entire Schmid family. They planned yet another awesome event to raise the level of SMA awareness enormously! Hillary, a petite, spunky, go-getter thought of the idea to host a night at the Phillies after running into one of the players. She then organized the entire event, sold over 800 tickets, did multiple television and newspaper interviews, had an incredible awareness video made that was played on the jumbotron for the entire crowd, and prepared to throw out the first pitch in front of 50,000 Phillies fans!!! Wow!!! Now that is a woman making a difference!
And guess who made an appearance on the jumbotron? Yes, little Miss Gwendolyn. Isn't she cute?
You have to watch this video. 50,000 more people are now aware of SMA!!! Thank you Schmid family for fighting so hard in memory of Zane and in honor of all the children battling this cruel disease!!!
