We are very excited about awarding this $10,000 grant to help support and improve SMAspace.com. SMAspace is an incredibly unique and critical online community and resource for SMA families that was created by two remarkable SMA parents, Nate and Diana Lee, through their Maryland based nonprofit Eminnea.

The Lee's are an extraordinary family who have refused to let the brutal reality of multiple SMA diagnoses stand in their way. They have three beautiful daughters — Annabelle (8 years old and SMA free), Linnea (lost to SMA in 2004 at only 1 year old), and Emily (almost 5 years old and living with SMA Type I). On top of providing their family with an incredibly fulfilling life, the Lee's selflessly focus their philanthropic energy on SMA family support. In 2008 they created SMAspace.com to harness the power of technology and social media to fill an enormous gap in providing people impacted by SMA with life-critical information, care options, advice, access to SMA care specialists, and support to help them navigate the extremely challenging and murky waters of an SMA diagnosis. In short, what they have created with SMAspace.com is invaluable to everyone in the SMA community.

Thank you Lee family and Eminnea for all that you have done and are continuing to do to help support families impacted by SMA. We are honored to be a part of your mission and we look forward to building on our relationship in the future.
