Busy Weekend

We had quite the busy weekend. On Saturday the three of us headed out for a nice walk and breakfast at our favorite cafe, CrushCafe. We sat outside and sipped yummy coffee while Gwendolyn held onto Elmo and watched Elmo on video — an extra treat! It feels like our days and weeks have been extra filled lately and Bill and I needed some R&R together. And although they are divine, we actually resisted the cupcake temptation this time.

Then we went home and Bill got all gussied up to attend a wedding in town. We were a bit sad that we could not go to the festivities together. (We never leave Gwendolyn with anyone — one of us is with her at all times.) But, then we had to remind ourselves that a year ago, even six months ago, we would not have gone at all. I think that is progress. We have learned that we like to take baby steps, ease into things. And, if it goes smoothly, we continue challenging ourselves. The most important thing is we are doing what feels right for us. Right now we are not comfortable leaving Gwendolyn with anyone. And that is okay. But, maybe we will work up to that… maybe. When Bill got home we stayed up late talking and I got to hear about the beautiful bride and the happy groom and all the stunning details of the wedding.

The next day we were very excited that our dearest friends Nick and Aubrey came over. Bill got to spend time with them at the wedding, but I was thrilled to get my time with them, too. It was fun to talk about their upcoming wedding plans and I always love hearing about Aubrey's creativity. She creates the most stunning letterpress work and did most of the details for the wedding the night before. (Atlas & Campbell — check it out.) Gwendolyn just loves them both and this visit she got an extra special treat because they brought their darling Yorkie dog, Rufus! Gwendolyn was over the moon. Rufus was so gentle and sweetly licked Gwendolyn's hands… and then her arms… and then her elbows and Gwendolyn giggled through the entire thing. It was so cute. She was so thrilled with the visit and the company that she decided a nap was completely out of the question and we have been recovering ever since smileGetting a Rufus bath
