We are almost home after a very productive meeting with Dr. Yuan at Stanford. Have we said how much we love her? She is honest with us about everything, but not clinical and always reminds us that Gwendolyn is her own person and not a statistic. She thinks Gwendolyn looks really great and is always very complimentary of how well we are caring for her — which is reassuring for both of us. We increased her BiPAP iPAP setting to 22, but that did not overly concern Dr. Yuan. It does signify the progression of her SMA (we've had to increase her breathing support every six months) and we don't like that, but, unfortunately, that is out of our control. It does not signify a specific time limit or downward path; it just means she needs more breathing support. On a different note, Dr. Yuan gave us the A-Ok, the All Clear, and some serious Just-in-Case support for our very exciting summer plans… More on that later.
Here is G about 2 seconds before falling asleep for most of the drive home — Mommy did, too.
