A few weeks ago, we received the most thoughtful gift in the mail — and after a particular yucky day, it couldn't have come at a better time. I opened a letter to find two things: 1) a gift certificate to our favorite restaurant, Elements, signed from “An Angel” and 2) an email to Elements from the lovely Prokopetz family in Canada. After reading how much we love Elements on our blog, Lisa Prokopetz contacted them to see how she could go about giving us a gift certificate to dine there. Her letter alone had me in floods of tears. And it must have done the same to the staff at Elements because they told her they would like to give us the gift certificate. I love this and am touched by this on so many levels. Of course, because we received such a wonderful present, but also because a kind gesture went through so many hands to get to us. This was no random act of kindness — this was a thoughtful and purposeful gesture — and it meant so much to us.
So this weekend, we thought it was the perfect time to enjoy our special gift. Bill and I got dolled up and Gwendolyn got to wear her jammies out to dinner, which she thought was hilarious. We thought she would fall asleep or need a video, but, instead, she was perfectly happy to sit and enjoy the lovely scenery at the restaurant with us. We had a glass of champagne to toast to our new 501(c)(3) status — we will be celebrating that for awhile — enjoyed a lovely dinner, watched the sunset, and had a wonderful evening.
Thank you Lisa for being so unbelievably thoughtful and thank you Elements for creating a wonderful date night for us.
