A little concerned

While Gwendolyn has been and continues to be in great spirits, we're a little concerned about a few things we've noticed over the last couple of days. On Monday evening her oxygen stats dropped into the low 90's% several times for short periods of time — something that we haven't seen in weeks. Her oxygen stats always recovered to normal levels but we decided to put her on a small amount of oxygen for the night just to be cautious. I took her off of the oxygen in the morning and she has done well without it since. Yesterday we noticed that her secretions were a bit stickier than normal and we were starting to get more plug-like secretions while suctioning her. This, coupled with her oxygen episode the prior night, definitely concerned us. While it could be nothing, to be on the safe side we decided to start her on a second nebulizer treatment called Pulmozyme twice daily. From what we've been told, Pulmozyme is a pretty aggressive medicine that works to break up sticky secretions in Gwendolyn's lungs and/or airways and when used in conjunction with her normal respiratory treatment routine should help us to loosen up and get any junk out of her lungs that may be coagulating.
