A day at the zoo!!!

On Tuesday, all six of us (Gwendolyn, Henry, William, Victoria, Elizabeth, and me), including two car seats and Gwendolyn's bassinet, piled in the GVan and took a trek to the Santa Barbara Zoo. Our friend Dean Noble is the Director of Marketing at the zoo and he coordinated a behind-the-scenes personal and very informative tour for us. It was so much fun. We all got to pet a cute little Channel Island Fox and a very patient Humboldt Penguin. We also got to watch the penguins at feeding time and we even got to hand feed the giraffes. The giraffes have huge, slimy, yucky, blue and pink tongues (see left hand side of the picture) that they quickly stick out to grab the food from your hand with. We all took turns feeding them and Elizabeth was lucky enough to get licked on the cheek by one of those smelly tongues (yuck!). Gwendolyn loved the fox and she really loved the penguin, but I think the giraffe were a bit too big and squirrelly for her as she enjoyed watching them from afar rather than getting too up close and personal (I don't blame her). What a wonderful day! Thanks so much to Dean and the Santa Barbara Zoo for going out of their way to make it so special for all of us.
