We enjoyed a beautiful Father's Day BBQ with our family on Saturday. Victoria's dad, my mom, my sister, and my brother-in-law came up and everyone had a great time just being together. For Victoria and me, it was as relaxed as we've been in months and was definitely a special day for both of us.
It was a beautiful day in Santa Barbara so we decided to have dinner on our outdoor deck — something we love so much but haven't been able to do in months. Victoria rolled Gwendolyn's machine cart out onto the deck, plugged it in, and moved Gwendolyn all bundled up in her “car bed” (basically a car seat but in a flat position) onto the bench beside her. It was so nice to be outside on our deck again.
Gwendolyn loved every minute of the entire day and it is always great for Victoria and me to see her face light up when her favorite people are around. She is quite the quiet observer and always likes to be actively part of whatever is going on around her — she loves to see exactly who all of the voices in the room are coming from and doesn't like it when people are talking behind her. Since she can't physically move herself around, her eyes and ears are her entire world. We've learned how important it is for us to be constantly aware of that and for us to be proactively moving her into positions that allow her to see and hear and experience everything around her.
