Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that Bill is an AWESOME father. I always knew he would be a great dad because he is a thoughtful and loving husband. But, Bill is truly an incredible father — and not because our daughter is sick — in spite of it. He is completely and utterly devoted to our family. When Gwendolyn's diagnosis meant putting everything else on hold and drastically shifting our lives and priorities, he did this automatically and naturally, making the transition into our new life less of a struggle. His ability to express his grief so honestly and fully and yet move forward in such a positive manner, has pushed me and encouraged me to be a better, more honest person. Because of him, I have learned to cope in ways I did not know I would be able. It is easy and understandable to become stuck in grief, but Bill's automatic response has always been, How can we change this for others? And, of course, Gwendolyn absolutely adores him!
Bill did not know I contacted iParenting.com to nominate him for Dad of the Month (I usually get the urge to do this type of thing at 1:00 am). And I did not know what would become of my nomination. I was so thrilled to receive an almost immediate positive response. Bill deserves it. Thank you Renee Roberson for writing such a fantastic article and thank you iParenting for selecting my wonderful husband and Gwendolyn's amazing Dad.
