On October 3rd, the day before Gwendolyn's birthday, the fabulous Lauren and the amazing Aunt Moe are teaming up to run the DIVA Half Marathon in honor of Little Miss Diva, Gwendolyn!
I know you know Lauren. She's only the most fabulous person ever. We love Lauren and we admire her dedication to fighting SMA by running all over the world in memory of beautiful Owen Shuler. We will always love Owen, the amazing forever 5 month old inspiration behind Lauren's many, many, many runs. We love Owen's family: his incredible parents, his beautiful new little sister Natalie, and his awesome Aunt Moe (who bravely ran her very first half marathon on the first anniversary of Owen's angel day alongside Owen's mama and Lauren!).
Lauren's running calendar exhausts us just reading it…and it inspires and moves us. Two weeks ago she ran in honor of beautiful Ciara, a tough little two month old SMA fighter. Last week she ran in memory of Mollie and in the next few weeks she will participate in the crazy Tough Mudder Challenge in memory of Keira — both of these gorgeous babies lost their fight with SMA. And, of course, she always runs for Owen, but she will be running extra hard for him in the New York City Marathon on November 7th. And all along the way, she raises awareness and funding to fight this brutal disease, asking for just $1 per mile! In fact, Team Run For Owen has raised over $10,000 for SMA!!!
We are so, so, so honored that Lauren and Aunt Moe decided to dedicate this “Diva” run to our Gwendolyn…the day before her 3rd birthday! Perfect!!! And we are so moved that Aunt Moe, who swore she'd never lace those running shoes up again again, is tackling her second half marathon because “your little girl means that much.” Wow!
