Girls’ Weekend Getaway!

This past weekend I went on a surprise getaway with four of my girlfriends (Laurie, Ronda, Marina and Sarah) for Sarah's birthday. It was planned, organized and orchestrated by her amazing husband, Mike, and it was all a surprise until Saturday morning. He emailed us last month to hash out a date and make sure dads could take charge, but other than “bring one suitcase and pack a hot outfit” we knew nothing. We all arrived on Saturday morning squealing with excitement and encouraged by our fabulous husbands to “Go have fun. We've got it under control.” This was the first time all of us have been away on a girls' trip together and we had an amazing time!!!

So Saturday morning Sarah opened a box with all the plans — VEGAS — and everything was arranged. We had flights booked, an awesome hotel suite with a view of all the sparkling lights, manis/pedis as soon as we arrived (with champagne and martinis), dinner and breakfast reservations at award-winning yummy spots, and a night of dancing until our feet almost fell off (literally, I don't know if I've danced that much in 10 years!). And it was all incredible. I love my friends. They are individually each amazing and together we all just click. We support each other, cheer each other on, give advice, take advice, and have so much fun together. We talked nonstop, laughed a ton, cried a little, and I came home with my heart just full and so grateful for these special friendships!!! Love you girls — my sista wives!

And all dads survived. In fact, they even had a Daddy/Baby BBQ together while we were gone.

The only bad news is I am now sick with bronchitis — hence my delay in posting about such a fabulous weekend. I felt fine when I got home Sunday night, on Monday I felt tired, but by Tuesday I was a wreck. Bill has been on double duty, banished me to the other end of the house, and I can only blow Gwendolyn kisses from afar. Mostly I have been sleeping for three days straight and hoping this whooping cough does not go anywhere near my baby. Keep your fingers crossed.
