Last weekend was the Muscular Dystrophy Association's 2011 Winter Wine Down in Santa Barbara and it was a huge success. This is the first year the event has been in down town SB (it was previously held in Santa Ynez) and it is the very first year that 100% of the proceeds were dedicated to Spinal Muscular Atrophy research!
Despite uncooperative weather (it drizzled off and on), Alameda Park was lined with vendors serving up gourmet food and sampling their finest libations. Over 35 wineries, breweries, and restaurants supported the event — all with a smile even through rain drops. And over 400 tickets were sold!!! And we were personally thrilled to see so many friends brave the weather to support the day.
So drum roll, please… $16,000 was raised for SMA research AND the Santa Barbara MDA has decided to dedicate next year's 2012 Winter Wine Down to SMA research as well!!! Can I get an “Oh Yeah!” So, so, so beyond thrilled. We plan to help make sure everyone in Santa Barbara attends and helps taste away SMA!!!
